Businesses throughout the province are benefiting from the network of Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) offices.
Profiled below are 2 businesses that have benefited from Seda interventions in the Nelson Mandela Bay and Amathole regions.
Thamahlangu Trading Enterprise
Established in 2008, Thamhlangu Trading offers general construction services including painting, paving, plumbing, tiling, fencing, water-proofing and building renovations.
Starting with an initial staff compliment of 2, today they boast a contractual staff compliment of 12 and are currently completing a project for the Department of Housing. Armed with the right attitude and skills in construction, Thamsanqa Mahlangu approached seda for assistance in general business management.
Facilitated by Seda, Mr Mahlangu has attended a SARS workshop on tax and vat implications for small businesses, obtained skills in quoting and bookkeeping and attended business networking functions in order to promote his business.
A partnership between seda and CIDB has seen Mr Mahlangu join an Emerging Contractors training and continuous advice programme.
Mr Mahlangu says that seda also assisted them to establish a brand through development of a logo, business cards and brochures and that these tools have been a huge support in clinching deals.
